Direct/Act in your own Scene
SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED
Producing Credits are still available (see above)
Do you have a camera? An iphone/smartphone? These days everybody does, so there's no reason why you can't be in this!
You must be 18 or over to submit your film (with parental approval/signature those under 18 may submit).
Here's what you need to do...
Read up on the serial killer that our film is about (click here).
Note: Make sure to actually read up on the killer. The film's title is a metaphor, not literal.
Based on the information provided, go and shoot your scene(s), as if you were making a segment for a documentary on this killer.
It can be 10 seconds, or 10 minutes, and anything in between. There is no fee to submit.
Shoot your segment on whatever you wish; DSLR, Blackmagic, iphone, DV, VHS, film, etc. NTSC is preferred, though PAL is also accepted.
If shooting on a phone please hold it sideways, not up and down (reference). Send your master file via WeTransfer to madsincinema@gmail.com.
You can make up and portray any character that you wish (as long as it relates to the killer somehow);
i.e., a cop who worked the case, a family member/friend of a victim, an actor who played the killer in a movie or an actress who played a victim,
a psychologist giving their thoughts on the killer's personality, a conspiracy theorist, a fan of the killer's, somebody who's tracking the killer
on their own, etc. You can make the video look old and have somebody portray the killer when he's just a child, or show home video footage of
a victim in their early years. You can go all out and direct a fake trailer/scene for a fictional movie that was made about the killer. You can
re-create a crime scene, or simply shoot the film in your room with your phone camera and keep it as simple as possible. It's entirely up to you!
Though we would love to see people make use of their towns/cities, so shooting outside and/or someplace unique is encouraged.
SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED
You may shoot it in any part of the world and in any language
(if not in English please provide one version of your segment with English subtitles and one version with no subtitles).
There is no limit on graphic content - i.e., violence, sex, profanity, etc. - include as much as you wish, or none. However, no real violence will
be tolerated. Anybody appearing nude must be at least 18 years old at the time of filming and you must provide two valid forms of I.D.'s for
each person appearing nude along with a nudity rider (also make sure that all of your actors and crew members sign proper release forms).
Do not use copyrighted music. For most segments we ask that you do not include music so that we may properly edit the film. If you are
making a fake trailer/scene/music video (perhaps singing a song for a victim or for the killer, etc.) then please have all music rights cleared.
Everybody who shoots their own scene will get full credits in the acting/writing/cinematographer/directing categories!
If you make a full blown segment/fake trailer/scene, music video, etc., please list all additional credits (i.e. editor, costumes, casting, etc.).
Make sure to sign and email the official release form with your submission. If the director of the submission is under 18 years old his/her parent/legal guardian must also sign the release. Submit as many segments as you wish. Upon submitting you may add your credits to the IMDB page. Please also email us your complete list of credits. Directors of the segments will receive 40% of equally shared net profits.
